So where were the Haynes in 1870. . . in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, of course, probably in Arcadia.
Here's a surprise, in 1870 the family name was not Haynes; it was Tompson.
They were:
Alace (Alice) Tompson, born about 1865 in Louisiana
Billar(Bella)Tompson, born about 1863 in Louisiana
Dannie (Daniel) Tompson, born about 1860 in Louisiana
Rose Tompson, born about 1840 in Florida.
And where was Grandma Haynes? According to the 1870 census, the Tompson's neighbor were:
Hulda Sutton, born about 1842 in Mississippi.
Lewis Sutton, born about 1810 in Mississippi
Martha Sutton, born about 1857 in Louisiana.
I think Martha Sutton was Grandma Haynes.
Please comment and let me know what you think.

Ronnie,
How did you come up with the name? And when & why did the name change come about?
Also, I have been told that Grandma Martha married someone else and had a child before she married Grandpa Haynes. I have two names that refer to her (Lewis, Johnson) before becoming a Haynes I had thought the Lewis name was her maiden name (if we can use that term). What do you know about these names?
Also, I have never seen the sister-in-law picture before. Leland, my son, says he has seen it at Aunt Elphany's house.
In fact, I had only seen the one of Aunt Arcie.
This is a great star!!! I am looking forward to more pictures.
